The Esmeralda Mateus Foundation actively supports students by providing essential school supplies such as shoes, uniforms, and learning tools to those in need. We run initiatives and mentorship programs that help learners build confidence, develop skills, and pursue their educational goals. Through collaboration with communities, we create opportunities for students to thrive and access the resources they need for a quality education.
Mayaiyane - March 2026
As part of the “50 Pairs, 50 Students” drive, Ma-yaiyane, located approximately 60 km from Mafikeng, was one of the beneficiary communities supported through this initiative.
Shoe Drive - May 2025
Every child deserves to step confidently into the classroom, ready to learn and succeed. The School Shoe Drive is an initiative started by Esmeralda Mateus, dedicated to providing students with proper, durable school shoes.
The Shoe Drive bridges the gap by providing essential footwear for school.
Milestones - July 2024
The initiative has reached over 30 students in Mafikeng, Dihatswane and Slurry in the North West Province and so far 30 pairs of shoes have been donated to schools

The vision of the initiative is to reach more students across the country, ensuring that they receive the education they deserve. The mission of the School Shoe Drive is to provide students in need with durable school shoes. By addressing this essential need, the initiative aims to remove barriers to education, enhance students' comfort and confidence, and support their ability to learn and thrive in the classroom.
